Day 3's Notes - Continued

Geysir, sometimes known as The Great Geysir, is the famed hot spring located within the geothermal area of the Haukadalur Valley in southwestern Iceland. It may have begun forming around 1150 CE. It stands as one of the essential attractions along the country's popular Golden Circle sightseeing route.

While the area is known as Geysir, Strokkur is the most active and famous hot spring on site. It dramatically shoots vast jets of boiling water, reaching heights of 20 meters (65 feet) to as much as 40 meters (130 feet).

Fortunately, visitors need not worry about missing this incredible spectacle of nature, as Strokkur erupts with remarkable frequency—approximately every five to ten minutes. This regular activity ensures many opportunities to capture that fleeting, powerful moment on camera.
