Iceland Travel Journal 冰島旅行日記 1

Seeing my younger brother, CD, alone in Iceland waiting for his next trip, I felt a pang of sorrow and imagined he must be lonely. When our schedules unexpectedly aligned, I took the opportunity to invite my sister and me to visit Iceland—a place I had always heard so much about. This past week has been incredibly fulfilling and worthwhile.

For someone as dependent and timid as me, this impromptu solo trip felt truly unprecedented. But the thought struck me: If not now, when? With the timing right—while I was still mobile, could afford it, and had my husband's support—I decided to go.

Transiting through Dallas, Texas, on my way to Iceland, I saw a huge, shining full moon outside the airport's glass window, and my heart filled with gratitude. It was a sign of perfection—what better time could there be? I suddenly felt immense confidence in my spontaneous decision. Even though the 'right time' is never certain, I realized that "in time" is the only time that matters. In life's journey, making an unconventional decision can often bring the most unexpected surprises.

Note on 2025.11.26: We did not know a pandemic was coming just a few months after our return from Iceland. I feel deeply grateful and lucky that we made the decision to go in 2019.

我看到弟弟 CD 獨自在冰島等待他下一個行程，我不禁感到一陣難過，心想他一定很孤單。剛好時間配合得上，便約了妺妹一起到這個聽聞已久的冰島來看看。過去的這一個禮拜經歷滿滿，也意義非凡。

對於像我這樣依賴性強又膽小的人來說，這次說走就走的獨自旅行真是破天荒。但我突然想想：如果現在不去，又等何時呢？趁著時間配合得當、我尚且行動自如、經濟上也負擔得起、而且還有丈夫的支持──於是我決定出發。

我看到弟弟 CD 一個人在冰島，等待他下一個行程，覺得他好孤單，剛好時間配合得上，便約了妺妹一起到這個聽聞已久的冰島來看看。這一個禮拜經歷滿滿，非常值得。對一個依賴心重及膽怯的人，這種臨時一個人飛的舉動實在是破天荒。但想想現在不去，又等何時呢？趁著時間配合得當，尚且行動自如，還能負擔得起的時候，再加上先生也很支持我出去走走，就這麼決定出發了。我在德州達拉斯轉機至冰島，在機場看到又大又圓的月亮，心中充滿感謝，一個圓滿的徵兆，這不是吉時又待何時？在人生的旅程中，有時候不按常規做些決定，或許可以給自己一點意外的驚喜。

前往冰島途中，我在德州達拉斯轉機，透過機場的玻璃窗，我看到一輪碩大明亮的滿月高懸夜空，心中充滿了感激。這彷彿是個圓滿的徵兆──這不是吉時又待何時？我突然對自己當初的不按常規的決定充滿了信心。雖然「最佳時機」永遠無法確定，但我意識到，「順其自然」才是最重要的。人生旅途中，做出一個不尋常的決定，往往能帶來意想不到的驚喜。

2025年11月26日補充說明：我們當時並不知道，從冰島回來幾個月後就會爆發全球大流行病 COVID。我由衷地慶幸我們在 2019 年做了去冰島的決定。
