Dagouxi Riverside Park
Dagouxi Riverside Park is located at the base of Dahu Shanzhuang Street. The area was severely impacted by typhoons in 1997 and 2001. To address the issue of mountain flood disasters, the Hydraulic Engineering Office of the Taipei City Government constructed a flood control sedimentation pond nearby. They adopted a near-natural approach to create a wetland environment that supports ecological conservation while enhancing water management. The result is a park that successfully integrates ecological preservation with flood control. On April 11, 2025, we visited Dagouxi Riverside Park. At the entrance, we found a sign displaying a map of Section Four of the Taipei Grand Trail, revealing that the park is one of its key points. Another sign described the park's origins. We also noticed several adorable wooden owl sculptures near the starting point. During our visit, we walked along the outer edge of the park, which offered elevated views and a different perspective of the surrounding landscape. I heard that after the annual flood prevention season, large areas of flowers are planted in the park, creating a beautiful landscape. Unfortunately, we visited during the wrong season and missed the sea of flowers.
Yuanjue Falls
Yuanjue Waterfall is located in the upper reaches of Dagou Creek. From Dagouxi Riverside Park, you can follow the creek upstream along the Dagou Creek Trail to reach the top of the waterfall. Since we were walking along the outskirts of the park, we initially couldn’t find the entrance to the trail. After asking some locals, we learned that you can access the trail by entering the garden of the Ye Family Ancestral Temple. A road beside the temple leads directly to the trailhead for Yuanjue Waterfall. The trail itself is flat and easy to walk. I visited the waterfall with my husband on April 11, 2025, and returned with my daughter on April 20. The following are photos from both visits.

The last photo is Taiwan Peacock (Papilio hermosanus). The blue-green spots on the wings of the Taiwan Peacock butterfly are very eye-catching and attractive. I couldn't help but stare at them intently for awhile.
Liyushan Hiking Trail
The Liyushan Trail, with an altitude of 223 meters, is named after the mountain that resembles a carp. Although the altitude is not high, it's quite tiring to walk up these seemingly endless stairs. I went on an adventure with my daughter on April 20, 2025. The Liyushan Trail is also known as the Lilliput Trail. Along the trail, you will see more than 50 carvings of various famous Taiwanese and foreign attractions, such as the Presidential Palace and the Great Wall. I also saw several people participating in cross-country running on the trail, and I admired their ability to run so many stairs.
Bishan Temple
Bishan Temple, formally known as the Kaijhangshengwang Taoist Temple, is perched at the summit of Bishan Mountain in Neihu. It is dedicated to Chen Yuanguang, a national hero credited with developing the Zhangzhou region in Fujian during the late Tang Dynasty. Revered as the "Kaijhangshengwang" or "Sacred King Who Opened Zhangzhou," Chen Yuanguang is honored alongside his two loyal generals, Li Boyao and Ma Ren. The temple offers sweeping views of the Taipei Basin and is surrounded by picturesque natural scenery.
