When I visited Rocky Mountain National Park, I enjoyed seeing Pulsatilla Patens by the side of the trail at Lumpy Ridge. It felt like a treasure hunt to look for them when I walked on the trail. Pulsatilla patens is a species of flowering plant in the family Ranunculaceae, native to Europe, Russia, Mongolia, and China. Common names include Eastern pasqueflower and cutleaf anemone. Pasque comes from Old French for Easter in reference to the spring bloom time. It is the state flower of South Dakota.
