Due to COVID-19, the City of Los Angeles issued the "Safer at Home" order on March 19, 2020. In the months that followed, life became something we never could have imagined. Many businesses were forced to close, with only essential ones remaining open. Restaurants switched to take-out or delivery only. Zoom calls and video meetings revealed the unexpected consequences of salon closures—gray hair and DIY haircuts became the new normal. Social distancing, washing hands for 20 seconds, and wearing face coverings were constantly emphasized in the media. It was a time of panic and chaos.
Through all of this, I reminded myself that "rest" is a mindset. Even while hunkering down at home with limited movement, it’s easy to feel restless—caught up in worry and doubt. But rest, as promised in the Bible, is not about our own efforts; it’s about faith. We enter that rest by believing, not through our own work.
由於新冠疫情，洛杉磯市於2020年3月19日發布了「居家更安全」的命令。許多商家被迫關閉，只有必要的企業仍在營業。餐廳只提供外帶或外送服務。Zoom 和視訊會議揭示了沙龍關閉帶來的意想不到的後果——白髮和自助理髮成為新常態。媒體不斷強調保持社交距離、洗手20秒和戴口罩。那是一個恐慌和混亂的時期。
經歷這一切，我提醒自己「安息」是一種心態。即使待在家裡，活動受限，從外看起來靜止不動，但內在憂心忡忡沒有安寧，也很容易感到焦躁不安，陷入擔憂和懷疑之中。其實安息在聖經中是一個應許，安息並不是靠我們自己的努力而只憑心裏相信。我們因著相信而進入那安息，而不是靠自己的努力。
Hebrews 4:1-2
Let us therefore fear, lest,
a promise being left to us
of entering into His rest,
any of you should seem to
come short of it.
For unto us was the Gospel preached,
as well as unto them;
but the Word preached
did not profit them,
not being mixed with faith in
those who heard it.
Hebrews 4:6
Seeing therefore it remaineth
that some must enter therein,
and those to whom it was first preached
did not enter in because of unbelief
Hebrews 4:10-11
For he that has entered into His rest,
he also hath ceased from his own works,
as God did from His.
Let us labor therefore
to enter into that rest,
lest any man fall according to
the same example of unbelief.
希伯來書 4:1-2
我們既蒙留下，
有進入他安息的應許
就當畏懼，
免得我們中間或有人
似乎是趕不上了。
因為有福音傳給我們，
像傳給他們一樣；
只是所聽見的道與他們無益，
因為他們沒有信心
與所聽見的道調和。

既有必進安息的人，
那先前聽見福音的，
因為不信從，不得進去。
希伯來書 4:10-11
因為那進入安息的，
乃是歇了自己的工，
正如神歇了他的工一樣。
所以，
我們務必竭力進入那安息，
免得有人學那不信從的樣子。
跌倒了。
