我在台灣陽明山的二子坪看到鼎脈蜻蜓，由於我完全不懂生物，從中文翻譯的英文專有名詞可能有誤，在此聲明一下。鼎脈蜻蜓是一種中等體型的蜻蜓。雄蟲複眼黑褐色。合胸黑色。後翅基黑色，翅痣黑色。腹部3到7節前半為灰白色，其餘為黑色。未熟雄蟲腹及合胸可見黃色。雌蟲複眼藍綠色。合胸黃色，側視有兩條黑帶，後翅基褐色。腹部前8節黃色有黑色線條，其餘為黑色。鼎脈蜻蜓出現於低中海拔地區之池塘、湖泊、溪澗、水田等水域，為數量最多的蜻蜓種類之一。

Female compound eyes are blue-green. The Synthorax is yellow, with two black bands in the side view, and the base of the hind wings is brown. The first 8 segments of the abdomen are yellow with black lines, and the rest are black. The Blue-tailed forest hawk is usually found in ponds, lakes, streams, paddy fields and other waters in low and medium altitude areas, and is one of the most abundant dragonfly species.
