Malus floribunda, common name Japanese flowering crabapple, Japanese crab, purple chokeberry, or showy crabapple, originates from Japan and East Asia. The flowers, appearing in spring, are white or pale pink. It has gained the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit.
