- ‘Athene’ is a cross between Magnolia x soulangeana ‘Lennei ‘Alba’ and Magnolia ‘Mark Jury’. It was developed in New Zealand by Felix Jury during the 1960s and introduced to Britain in the 1980’s.
- Flowers have a cup-and-saucer shape, with the outer petals opening out to form the saucer and the inner petals remaining more or less closed in a loose cup.
- Flowers are large, fragrant, white, flushed with dark rosy pink-red at the base.

- ‘Brozzoni’ is a second generation seedling raised in the garden of Camillo Brozzoni at Brescia, Italy in 1873. Received the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit in 1993.
- ‘Brozzoni’ has beautify white flowers with a hint of pink. The flowers open in mid and late spring.

- Magnolia x soulangeana ‘Rustica Rubra’ flowers are large, goblet-shaped. Fragrant. They are bright rosy-pink outside and paler inside. The flowers are followed by very showy, bright red fruits.
- A Dutch clone originating in Boskoop, The Netherlands at the end of the nineteenth century when open-pollinated seedlings of Magnolia x soulangeana 'Lennei' came into flower.

- Verbanica Saucer Magnolia is covered in abundant cup-shaped and fragrant rosy pink flowers fading to white centers in early spring. It has dark green foliage throughout the season. The large pointy leaves turn coppery-bronze in fall. The fruit is not ornamentally significant.
- Verbanica Saucer Magnolia is a multi-stemmed deciduous tree with a more or less rounded form.
- This is a relatively low maintenance tree, and should only be pruned after flowering to avoid removing any of the current season’s flowers.
