The ‘Little Girl’ magnolias are a group of magnolia cultivars developed by the U.S. National Arboretum in Washington D.C to avoid the frost damage frequently seen on other early-blooming deciduous magnolias. The "girl" magnolias crosses were made in 1955 and 1956 by William F. Kosar and Dr Francis de Vos. The ‘Little Girl’ magnolias include Magnolia ‘Ann’ , ‘Betty’ , ‘Jane’ , ‘Judy’ , ‘Pinkie’, ‘Randy’, ‘Ricki’, and ‘Susan’. The crosses information:
- Magnolia liliiflora ‘Nigra’ × Magnolia stellata ‘Rosea’: ‘Ann’, ‘Betty’, ‘Judy’, ‘Randy’ , ‘Ricki’, ‘Susan’
- Magnolia liliiflora ‘Reflorescens’ × Magnolia stellata ‘Waterlily’: ‘Jane’
- Magnolia liliiflora ‘Reflorescens’ × Magnolia stellata ‘Rosea’: ‘Pinkie’
