Plant: Macawflower (Heliconia bihai)

I saw Heliconia bihai at Hualien, Taiwan. I first mistook it for Heliconia rostrata. After carefully comparing the upward or downward facing flowers, I noticed the differences between these two species. Common names for the Heliconias include lobster-claws, toucan beak, wild plantain, or false bird-of-paradise. There are about 100-200 species in this genus. The growth habit of heliconias is similar to Canna, Strelitzia, and bananas, to which they are related.
