On January 28, 2023, we wanted to explore a different area for our daily walk. We decided to return to the Duarte/Azusa area (San Gabriel River Trail Segment G), which we had visited once before. We were surprised to see so many people biking there on a Saturday.
Although the wildflowers hadn’t bloomed yet, the heavy rain from several weeks ago had painted the mountains a rare emerald green, which felt very refreshing.
As I was walking, I suddenly noticed large and small stones being transported across a long distance by a conveyor belt to the other side—possibly to a stone processing facility. I had never realized that stones were mined in this area and used to make various finished products. It was fascinating to see a conveyor belt transporting stones for the first time.
